Hi, probably first post..

I found Resilio Sync when Dropbox no longer worked across the OS divide. SO currently at home I have

MBP with El Capitan, Resilio 2.7.3

	M1 mini Sonoma, Resilio 2.8.1

iMac (2013 running Sonoma via Open Legacy patcher on external SSD), Resilio 3.1.2
THIS seems to be giving me 6 days to get a [free] licence.
But best NOT to mix v3 and V2 seems to be the advice.
BUT v3 requires later macOS than El Cap - so something has to give or I am looking for another system again.

	Any experience, comments, advice?
My starter idea is to down-date the iMac to 2.8.1
Something not requiring lots of time to clarify and check would be great as I have many time pressures just now.

I had a question, regarding my selective Sync setup.

I have an Original Google Pixel doing my photos backup for unlimited photos storage. I have Resilio Sync setup on 3 phones (Z Fold 7, Pixel Fold and Pixel 10 Pro XL). With the Z Fold 7 being my primary phone but I use the others as well. So I have the phones syncing with Google Pixel that has Resilio Sync installed on it for all 3 phones. Then Google Photos is backing up all they photos I synced to my Google Account.

The issue is I now have a. Problem some I am out of space apparently. I wanted to know if I delete photos on my phone that have been backed up will that delete them from the phone they were synced from? What happens if I delete files (in my case photos) from the sync folder will it be delete them from the originating device as well or will r originating device resync them to the folder again?

	Thanks

	Title:
Misleading “Synced” status for a file while folder sync is paused / peer is offline (not delivered to other devices)

	Description:
On Android, a newly created file in a shared folder is shown as “Synced” in the file info screen, even though it has not been transferred to the other device yet. At the same time, the folder itself indicates syncing is stopped/paused due to Allowed network settings (Wi-Fi only) and/or no connected peers (0 of 1).

This is confusing because “Synced” (especially in Russian UI: “Синхронизировано”) strongly suggests the file is already synchronized across devices.

	Environment:
- App: Sync (Android)
- App version: [fill in]
- Android version: [fill in]
- Device model: [fill in]
- Folder type: Standard folder, Read & Write
- Allowed network: Wi-Fi only
- Peers: 0 of 1 at the moment of observation
- Folder path: /storage/emulated/0/DCIM/Camera

	Steps to reproduce:
1. Configure a shared folder between Device A and Device B (1 peer).
2. Set folder “Allowed network” to Wi-Fi only (or make the peer offline).
3. On Device A (currently on mobile data / or with peer disconnected), create a new photo/video in the shared folder (e.g., DCIM/Camera).
4. Open file details/info in the app.

	Actual result:
- File status shows “Synced” (“Синхронизировано”).
- Folder status indicates syncing is stopped/paused due to Allowed network, and/or peers are not connected (0/1).
- The file is not present on Device B yet.

	Expected result:
One of the following would be clearer:
A) File status should reflect pending upload/transfer when folder sync is paused or no peers are connected (e.g., “Waiting for network”, “Waiting for peer”, “Pending transfer”).
OR
B) If “Synced” is meant to be local-only, rename it to something unambiguous like “Synced locally / Indexed locally”, and show a separate “Transferred to peers” / “Available on X/Y devices” indicator.

	Attachments:
- Screenshots showing:
- Folder status “Stopped… Allowed network: Wi-Fi”
- Peers 0 of 1
- File details showing “Synced” at the same time

I wanted to clarify something with Selective Sync and placeholders and such. I have a folder of configuration files for a game I play on three computers. I want to sync all the files in this folder between these computers, with the exception of ONE file. This file holds config data unique to the system it's on (like graphic settings and whatnot). This file should never be synced, but everything else should be synced.

If I setup this folder for selective sync and choose all the files but the one I want to preserve on all three systems, will all the other files stay in sync, and will this unique file be ok, or will a placeholder try overwriting it or something?

	Thanks.

	Hello,

I would like to request clarification regarding the cryptographic hashing and encryption mechanisms used by Resilio software.

	Specifically, could you please confirm:

Whether the software generates file hashes using SHA-256 (or another SHA-2 family algorithm), and if so, for what purpose (e.g., file integrity verification, synchronization validation).

Whether AES-256 or AES-128 is used for data encryption, and in which context (e.g., data at rest, data in transit).

The primary security or cybersecurity standards and frameworks the software is designed to align with (for example, NIST, FIPS-validated modules, or other recognized guidelines).

This information is needed to support an internal cybersecurity and compliance assessment.

	Thank you for your assistance.

	Best regards,
Abhi

I do not really know if there is a setting for this... or if this question has already been asked. Sorry if one of these is the case.

I use Resilio (Home personal version) to sync some folders between my PC and a WD Mycloud EX4100.

At the same time, the same folders are synched to my Onedrive account (through symbolic link)...

Now, it often happens that Onedrive keeps spinning trying to sync the files (probably "TEMP" files or others) in the ".sync" hidden folder.

Since Onedrive MS support is rather pathetic (they are not able to let people exclude files and folders from the sync process... duh!), I was wondering if it is possible to move the ".sync" hidden folder to another position (and tell Resilio to look for it in that other position), so that Onedrive does not sync it.

	Thanks for any help!

Just discovered the existence of Resilio Sync, and I had SugarSync free a long time ago (no more). Some Qs:

What are the differences between Resilio free and Resilio paid?

How does the free version of Resilio compare to the paid version of SugarSync (because SugarSync pretty much ended its free version years ago)?

I have the "same" target folder on each of two PCs - for files from my wife's business. Those two folders are badly out of sync. If I "sync" them with Resilio, how does Resilio handle overlaps and mergers of the same files last revised differently?

What happens if I sync folders on two PCs that are in the OneDrive master folder on each PC? Do Resilio Sync and OneDrive play nice with each other?

Does your answer change if each PC has a different OneDrive account (because it has a different MS 365 Family user)?

Is there yet another competitor to SugarSync that I don’t know?

 What else should I ask?

I am new to Resilio and it is an excellent tool for me. However, when using it I have several points that I do not understand well.

	1. If I have a file synced between three machines, say A, B, and C. If I changed the file in A when B and C is offline, and then changed the same file in B differently when A and C is offline, what will happen when A, B and C become online again?

	2. I have a folder synced between several machines all with selective sync. Now I create a very important file which I want it to be broadcast immediately to every machine online. How can I do this other than clicking download in other machines?

	3. I have a folder synced between several machines all with selective sync. I want to make one of the subfolders to always synced mode, is that possible?

	Thank you for your help!

I am fortunate enough to still have an OG Pixel with free photo storage. We are using Resilio Sync to transfer our new phone photos to our OG Pixel and back those up to Google Photos. The storage on our OG Pixel is full from the new phones photos. I want to know if I Sync can keep record of what's been backed up after they have been processed to the Cloud or another USB device and then removed from the OG Pixel which is serving as a back-up location on Sync. I am hoping I can wipe the photos and just sync "new photos" or "photos since 'date'" without processing the same photos again. Any help?

On top of my local storages I have started using cloud storage for syncing remotely to insure syncing is successful even when all my local machines are down. I am using encrypted folders so the files stay private when uploaded to a server that's not under my control. I have ordered 4TB storage and I'm satisfied with it, but it has gotten expensive for me (100 EUR per year).

I was also thinking about "exchanging" a few TB of my space with my friends on their machines in exchange for space on my machine, but it hasn't materialised yet as mostly they use other solutions, not Resilio.

Is anyone else using a remote storage solution and can share some details on pricing and satisfaction?

If you are an iPhone user and using iCloud Photos, and have opened the Optimize iPhone Storage function.....

	Please be careful !!!!!

When your photos and videos have been successfully uploaded to iCloud and your iPhone has completed the storage optimization process, if you then use the “Sync Camera Backup” feature, all files — including those that have already been synced before — will become 0KB files.

This happens because the sync tool cannot recognize files that have been optimized for storage on the iPhone. If the “Delete Backup Files” option is not enabled, all of these files will become unusable.
I know this has been asked and answered before but the given solution does not work for me. When I went to check the Run registry entry it already had "/MINIMIZED" as a command line switch. Whenever I have to reboot the Resilio Sync GUI pop-up on my desktop. It should be able to start in the background.

I am currently successfully using Resilio Sync on Fedora. I am interested in dual-booting with CachyOS (Arch). Can I point both at the same data drive? I can have the exam same paths for data and configuration. But I'm worried there are some other subtle things I could have go wrong with this type of setup.

Got a new computer and put Sync Business on the new computer. How do I transfer the main license to the new computer? I used one of my 5 licenses for it, but no clue how to shut the old computer down and release the license and make my new one the main one that has access to billing. I am using Resillio Sync 2.8.1

Will be getting a new laptop in another week or 2, and selling the old laptop.

Want to make sure the desktop will sync with the new laptop and "forget" the old one. Since I haven't done this before, wanted to ask if this is as simple as linking the new device (under the identity tab) and unlinking the old one? Or is there more to it?

	Thanks -

I read about the difference. If you run Resilio Sync as a Windows Service, it just runs automatically. You also can only make adjustments via the web browser instead of a dedicated GUI. But, does that matter? I would think that running it via Windows Service would be more efficient. Further, since the web browser UI is the same as the GUI in terms of features, is there a reason not to run Resilio Sync as a Windows Service?

Unfortunately, I can't see any detailed comparisons or differences on the website; everything is too scattered across different pages. I'm missing some kind of comparison table to help me understand which product I need. I tried Resilio Sync, and overall I liked it. However, there are a couple of issues I don't like, and maybe they can be addressed in other editions. I'm wondering:
1. What protocols are available in other versions? I noticed that uTP performs worse than TCP in Resilio Sync. And uTP2 doesn't work at all. The website mentions ZGT, but it's not included in Resilio Sync. Which edition does it support, and is it better than TCP? Does any edition include UDP/QUIC? They should be faster, there plans to add them to any edition?
2. I share my files with clients. But their process seems a bit complicated. They need to register, download a key from email, and install an app. Is there a way for any edition to allow clients to skip registration and simply provide a key or download an app with a built-in key? I want to make the process as simple as possible for my clients. At least without registration.
3. Do other editions offer a more convenient way to handle selective syncing? I find it a bit awkward to choose what to sync and what not in File Explorer. Moreover, folders aren't marked as invisible, unlike files. It would be easier if they were marked with at least a checkmark and a cross, or at least transparent, like files. Ideally, through the app itself, like in cloud solutions.
4. Do the different editions have file size or file count limits? And what is the price for each edition? Does it depend on the number of clients, created sync folders, peers, etc.?

	Hi all!

I am using resilio sync to backup all camera pictures from the family phones where we have a combination of android and iphones. I'm supper happy with the backup feature that is precisely what brought me to Resilio from Syncthing. I have one problem, though, that I have not found any way to solve. My kids get a lot of images in Snapchat and they would like those images to be backed up as well, but since they are kept in a separate folder than the camera pictures, the camera backup does not pick them. I would like to add extra folders to perform a backup so that they can mark the Snapchat attachments folder and get same functionality (Note - Backup!, not sync!), so that they can free space on their mobiles without loosing the pictures. Is there any way of doing that?

	Thanks!
